Setting Goals for a Small Business

Opening a small business is an exciting and scary time. As a business owner you want to do everything you can to ensure the success of your business. To get started it's possible you have had to take out a small business loan. Most small businesses have limited recourses when just starting out. Setting goals is imperative for the success of a small business.

Setting goals can seem overwhelming and to big of a task to tackle. Start with what you want to accomplish and continue to break down how you can get there until the steps are small enough to handle.

Breaking a goal into steps can make even the most unattainable goal seem possible. A person running a marathon doesn't start by running 26 miles the first day. The trick is to start with baby steps. When the steps are small enough you can accomplish a task fairly quickly. When you feel like you are accomplishing something it motivates you to keep working.

Prioritizing is also a key in accomplishing your goals. If you set a goal to remodel your building that will take time and money that you may not have immediately. That would be a less important goal than increasing sales over a certain amount of time.

After you have listed your goals, broken them down then prioritized them; get started. If you stat on a task that seems overwhelming figure out how to break it down again into more manageable parts.

It's important for small businesses to set goals. In this economy businesses need to give themselves every advantage possible. As a small business owner setting goals is a good way to increase the probability of success for your company. Working towards a goal is rewarding and can help your business succeed.  Phillip Thow Scottsdale Arizona
